Saturday Math Help
Ms. Wakamatsu will be at the Rainier Beach Public Library each Saturday (except for the first Saturday of each month) from 11 am to 3 pm. She will be helping students with state test preparation, credit retrieval, and Compass prep. See Ms. Wakamatsu for more details.
Employment Opportunities
Many companies are hiring, especially retail businesses.  If you are looking for employment, be sure to check the Hot Jobs and other postings outside the Career Center.  If you don’t already have a resume, you are encouraged to create one.  Assistance with resumes is available in the Career Center.

Scholarship Search

Juniors and seniors who are interested in post-secondary (after high school) education, are encouraged to register for a FREE scholarship search program called The WashBoard.

Community for Youth
During registration a number of students picked up the green application packets from K.O.Wilson.  This is a GREAT mentor program for both young men and women!  Additional applications are available in the Career Center.  You are encouraged to complete the application and return it to the Career Center.  
$5 For the Best Seat in the House
Get the best seat available at more than 30 movie, music, theatre, dance, and visual art venues by showing your Teen Tix pass and paying $5.00/seat on the day of event. Register online, http://www.teentix.org/sign-up/application.  It’s free for youth13-19!
Chess Anyone?
Detective Cookie teaches people to play chess and coordinates the Urban Youth Chess Club. Detective Cookie is interested in including South Lake students in the game of chess.  She also offers Service Learning hours.  If you would like to play chess or learn how to play chess, please register your interest in the Career Center.  
Course Options
The Skills Centers are accepting applications for Aerospace, Auto, Cisco/Information Technology, Culinary, Digital Animation and Game Design, Fire Science, Health Sciences/Medical Assisting, Maritime Science, Medical Careers, and Multimedia Broadcasting.  City Campus is accepting applications for Auto Body and CWEST, which is a paid construction internship program.  Applicants must be 16 or older and willing to go to two locations for their classes each day for all programs.  Applications are available in the Career Center.  
Learn Digital or Black and White Photography
Youth in Focus has a few openings in their fall quarter classes that start the end of this month.  Scholarships provide cameras, instruction, and all materials.  Classes meet two afternoons a week at the 2100 Building.  Applications are available in the Career Center.
